Why is Bilvapatra offered to Baba Bolenath?

·         Lord Bolenath is very fond of Belpatra.

According to religious belief, if belpatra is not offered in the worship of Lord Shiva then it is considered incomplete. Three leaves of Belpatra joined together are considered sacred. These three leaves are considered as Trinity. It is believed that the three leaves represent Mahadev’s trident. It is also brlieved that offering three joined leaves of Belpatra on Shivaling brings peace to Lord Shiva and pleased Lord Shiva.

 

How did Belpatra originated?

·         Mata Parvati was sweating profusely while cooking. Mata Parvati wiped off that sweat with hear fingers and scattered its drops.

Drops of sweat of Mata Parvati fell on Mandra Mountain and from those drops the Belpatra tree was born. Belpatra tree is considered full of medicinal properties.

 

Importance of Belpatra Leaves.

·         Not only humans but even gods worship the Belpatra tree. According to the Puranas, Lord Shiva fulfills every wish of the person who offeres Belpatra on Shivaling. The Leaves of Bel patra absorb the energy of Shiva, and when it is offered to the Lord, some of the energy gets absorbed in it.

These are the Rules for offering Belpatra:

·         It is believed that God is hungry only for devotion. They become happy with just water from a vessel. But if the devotee offer Belpatra along with Jalabhishek then all the wishes are definitely fulfilled. But astrology tells us that there are some rules for Belpatra. The Belpatra you are offering to Lord Shiva should not be cut, Along with this, there should not be any holes in the belpatra. Before offering Belpatra, check that the leaf is not bent

·         Keep these things in mind also:

Its is believed that offering Belpatra to Lord Shiva gives spiritual power. But there are some days in which Belpatra should not be broken. For example, pulcing Belpatra on Chaturthi, Ashtami, Navami, Chaturdashi, Amavasya, Sankranti, pluck the belpatra a day in advance and keep it. Let us tell you that Belpatra never becomes stale or impure.
